Night skincare routine basics

The skin naturally repairs itself at night so the perfect nighttime routine focuses on repairing and healing the skin. Most of us prefer to forego the nighttime routine because we do not perceive it as pivotal. On the contrary, a night routine is just as critical to the skin as the daytime routine. Fundamentally, a nighttime routine allows us to feed the skin that it lacks. It lets you rid the skin of all the dirt, chemicals, and particles that it accumulates during the day.

Imagine all the dirt that embeds itself on your body throughout the day. A lot, right? When we get home after a busy day at work, all that we want to do is soak in a hot bathtub and calm our nerves. Surprisingly, the skin needs this too. It yearns to be rid of all the dirt and be let free.  And this is where a good night care routine comes in. With a 5-minute process, you are good to go.

A guide to the right nighttime routine

 Step 1: Double cleansing

Dermatologists advise us to double-cleanse at night because the skin traps a lot of dirt which requires a deep cleansing to get rid of. Double cleansing is used for oil and makeup removing in the evening. In this case, use cleansing oil to remove the makeup, and then go in with the ordinary cleanser. Through this procedure, all the dirty materials clogged on the skin surface are eliminated and the skin is left glowing.

Step 2: Apply toners and boosters

A toner is optional at night, but it is still necessary for nourishing the skin generally. This layer also includes essences and boosters such as hyaluronic acids which hydrate the skin thoroughly. You will not have to worry about discomfort with these as they are extremely lightweight. Also, dermatologists advise that we always apply the booster creams in the order of thin to thick. You will appreciate how this arrangement feels on your skin.

Step 3: Apply eye cream

As I grow older, I have learnt to appreciate the importance o an eye cream in my life. Eyes get affected by aging and that is where an eye cream comes in.. This cream treats dark circles and crow feet found in the eye area.

Step 4: Treatment, peels, and serum

Like the rest of the body, the skin rejuvenates and repairs itself at night. For this reason,  you should use all products targeting skin treatment at night. Apply all the prescription medicines (creams), serums, and exfoliating materials at this point. You want to limit your products to strictly those that you need as too many products increase the risk of irritation. For instance, you can skip retinoids on the night that you choose to use exfoliation treatments.

Step 5: Night cream/moisturizer

Night creams are thicker than day moisturizers as they are absorbed for longer hours during the night. Just as day moisturizers, they create a seal over the skin to hold in water under the skin.
