Cities to Travel to in Italy
Italy itself
Where do we start with this country, it is filled to the brim with history, culture, tourist attractions, historical monuments, and the list goes on and on. Italy is one of my favorite countries on earth and I would live there if I had the choice. It is where Juliet’s balcony is located, it is where batteries were invented, it is where pizza was first created, heck it is also where the Sistine Chapel is built (although in the Vatican which isn’t technically part of Italy.
Rome
Rome, as you probably already know, is the capital city of Italy. One of the main attractions in Italy is the Colosseum and it is located in Rome. Vatican City is also located in the area of Rome. Although it isn’t considered a part of Italy, it is still surrounded by Rome. The Pope heads the Roman Catholic Church and it is located in the Vatican. The Pope is the ruler of Vatican City as it is an incredibly small independent state. Michelangelo’s famous Sistine Chapel is also located within the Vatican. Because of all these historical monuments and art pieces, millions of people come to visit this holy place every year and as a result, people wait for hours on end to enter.
Venice
Everyone knows about Venice, it is one of the most popular destinations for tourists because of its unique way of life. Even if you’ve never heard the name Venice you’ve seen it somewhere either in a picture or video, the small canals throughout the streets are a sight to behold because no other country in the world offers views like these. While the streets of Venice are the main tourist attraction in themselves, some places are well known such as St. Mark’s Square and the Campanile bell tower.
Florence
Florence, along with several other cities in Italy, is famous because of its rich history and culture. There are several places to visit in this Florence. You can visit Florence Cathedral, which is the main attraction in the city. The Cathedral is a true piece of the art covered in several breathtaking designs. One of the most famous statues in the world is located in Florence, and that is the statue of David, which was also sculpted by the famous Michelangelo. David is said to be the first ruler of Israel.
Modena
While the main tourist attractions are undoubtedly a sight to behold, it is important to immerse yourself in the culture of the country you are in. Modena is a place where you can experience the way of life in Italy and that includes visiting local restaurants, walking the small streets, bargaining with the seller in the produce market, and so on. Modena is most well known for its association with the automaker industry. Several of Italy’s most well-known sports car names started from Modena including Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, and so on. There is also a Ferrari museum open to tourists in Modena.
