Cleansing For Sensitive and Combination Skin

Is any cleaning product worth it when it comes to conditioning the sensitive and combination skin? Not. The needs of oily skin are not the same as those of mixed or sensitive skin. And although we do not give it importance, inadequate cleaning of the skin of our face can cause the appearance of skin problems or aggravate existing ones. For example, if we clean sensitive skin with normal soap, we can irritate it. Or if we clean combination skin with an oil, a multitude of pimples can appear in the T zone. And so, with all skin types.

To answer the requirements of Sensitive and Combination skin, we have provided a guide in the following sections.

Combination or oily skin

This type of skin is characterised by excess sebum production, which accumulates along with pollution, makeup and other impurities, clogging the pores. That is why they require cleansing products with astringent ingredients (extracts of green tea, grapefruit, rosemary, lavender, mint, witch hazel, lemon, etc.) that leave the skin matte without drying it out.

For this type of skin, biphasic cleansers and cleansing creams and milk are contraindicated. Neither do products that contain alcohol, as they could excessively dry out the face and cause excess sebum production. On the contrary, the products that work best for them are facial foams and gels, as well as the aforementioned “syndet” soaps. Micellar and thermal waters are also ideal, especially when it is not necessary to remove make-up.

For the specific case of skin with acne problems, special cleaning and moisturising products are necessary, with antiseptic ingredients such as salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide, which prevent and combat pimple outbreaks.

Sensitive skin

Sensitive skin reacts badly to soaps and products with alcohol or aromas. They can also be irritated by frequent contact with water. Therefore, their cleaning can only be done with “syndet” products that do not harm the skin, as well as aqueous solutions such as thermal water or micellar water.

Micellar water is an innovative facial cleansing solution formulated based on molecules called micelles that act like magnets against dirt and sebum. To cleanse the skin and remove make-up, micellar water is used by soaking a make-up remover disc and gently sliding it over the skin, without the need for final rinsing. This type of water is beneficial for both combination and sensitive skin because, in addition to cleaning, it closes pores and leaves a matte finish, all without affecting hydration. The only drawback is that to remove makeup you have to have a little more patience because it is not as quick and effective a remedy as oils or gels. If you are looking for greater effectiveness to remove makeup with micellar water, apply it with the help of a face brush.

In addition, it boasts of being a more hygienic system than the rest of the cleaning brushes

For a few years now, electric facial cleansing brushes have flooded the cosmetics industry. From the “low-cost” versions to the brushes of the big brands, the objective of these devices is a deep cleansing of the skin that, in the long run, avoids problems such as wrinkles, loss of luminosity, blackheads and pimples.
